Nothing nothing more was needed
To make the day like heaven
As we young and married
Traveled through Kentucky
Than that I could glance away
From the road and see you at my side
And though we sat apart on the
Dodge’s long bench seat no closer
Could we be if you had moved
Your hand to touch my arm
Had we known what wisdom lay therein
We should have crystallized that time
Saved it as a touchstone
For the balance of our days
A lamp to light a path
Through future storms
But we were young
And could not know
How simply being there together
Achieved a peak of glory.
