20160114 (voting)

After consideration (I would

Say careful consideration—

But who really is ready to

Admit to conclusions drawn

From careless consideration?)

I think for this and possibly

All future presidential elections

Authorities should post a

Caution sign above every

Voting booth reading, “Abandon

Hope all ye who enter here,”

Just so nobody can say they

Weren’t warned when the

Outcomes are announced.

Living somewhat consciously

Through the Clinton/Bush/

Obama administrations (I

Have to admit I was less than

Barely conscious of political

Activities prior to Clinton’s

Aegis) I have come to the sad,

Cynical conclusion national

Elections decide nothing more

Than which iteration of the

War/corporate/government

Party gets to be titular chief

Executive officer of these

United States of America—

The Republicrat or the

Democratan—either way

Wall Street, big oil, old

Money, arms suppliers,

White lawyers continue their

Shoddy, self-interested

Rule of this and a fair

Chunk of other nations

In their thrall. I might vote

Some of the lesser offices,

People whom I might have

Come to know personally,

Or at least a little closer

Than the celeb-didates

Who are chosen by the

Party powerful. Yet even

Then, since I have lost all

Faith in the system, wouldn’t

I then just be choosing

Future corruptees?

Civics classes instructed

Us to cast our votes

For the person we thought

Best for the office. However

Real life experience has

Revised that to selecting

The lesser of two evils.

E.g., if things are shaping

Up that I will have to

Choose one of those idiot

Republicans currently in their

Spinning raffle drum

Known as the primaries or

Hilary with all her “I never

Met a war I didn’t like,” plus

All the other baggage: Bill,

The Foundation, governance by

Wet finger in the wind, which

Really would be the lesser

Of those two heinous evils?

Since Jill Stein of the Green Party

Is on the ballot, I can do that

In good conscience having

Decided the country is hell

In a hand basket already and

Comfort myself that I did the

Right thing. Or I could decide

Just to sit it out as so many

Others obviously have. I know

The media will never ask in

Their exit-polling procedures,

“Having voted, are you sick

At the heart of what’s become

Of your beloved country?”
